Booth success for Sutton Harriers

Six members of Sutton Harriers were among the successes as they took part in the fifth and final Booth Decoraters League Cross Country race, which was just over five miles long, at Holmebrook Valley Park, Chesterfield.

With 180 runners competing over the two-lap race, it made the second lap very muddy and in some parts so deep that it made the running nearly impossible.

Brent Stevenson’s time of 40.40 was good enough win him the veteran male 45 age category, while Leatitia Moakes was third senior lady in 43.05.

Sue Bradley (veteran ladies 40) was sixth in her category in 52.19, Tony Staniland having to settle for second place in veteran male 70+ after just missing out on victory in 55.06. Meanwhile, Paul Beasley (veteran male 50) was 18th in his age category. Liam Hodson (senior male) came home first for Sutton in 38.50, ending up 18th in his age category.

Elsewhere, 14-year-old Sutton Harriers member Drew Alletson ran in the final Mini League Cross Country at Newark’s Grove Leisure Centre.

The 3k race was over three laps, which made the going very muddy and hard for the junior runners.

Drew came home in ninth place and did well to finish in the boggy conditions.
