Back-to-back Fun League wins for Lakey

Andy Lakey reeled off back-to-back wins in the Sherwood Forest Farm Park Fishery Wednesday Autumn Fun League on Holmedale Lake.

On 11th December, back at home on peg 39, he fished a small pellet feeder cast to the island, landing 24 carp to 7lb through the match to record 94lb 14oz.

Second-placed Simon Skelton fished the pole and pellet out at 14m and 16m and also landed 24 carp to 7lb for 70lb 9oz.

The week before, also on peg 39, he used a small pellet feeder cast to the island to lure 21 carp to 8lb plus 5lb of roach on the pole and maggot for a winning weight of 77lb 3oz.

Runner-up Mick Langton fished the pole and pellet out at 14m for 15 carp to 8lb and five skimmers to put 59lb 12oz on the scales.

John Holmes fished the pole and maggot over groundbait on a very cold morning on Sherwood Lake on Tuesday, 10th December to land a match-winning bag of 17lb 4oz of skimmers to 1lb.

Dave Round, fishing his usual pole and caster up in the water, managed 12lb 3oz of ide for runner-up.

A week earlier Holmes had to settle for second place in the same match.

Dave Round was back at the top of the list, fishing the pole and caster for a nice net of ide to 1lb and 31lb 15oz, just finishing in front of previous week’s winner Holmes, fishing the pole and maggot over groundbait for a mixed net of silvers for 30lb 7oz.

The Open Match on Holmedale on Sunday, 15th December produced another cracking match for the time of year with good weights.

Eventually Leon Hardwick came out on top with 93lb 11oz of carp caught on the pole and fished out at 14m and a small pellet feeder cast to the lily pads.

In second spot Lee Plackett fished the pole and pellet for 78lb 1oz of carp to 7lb.

The week before it was Phil Carline who came up with a second successive Sunday win. Drawn at peg 17 he fished the long pole and pellet for an unseasonal 122lb 9oz of carp to 8lb.

Second-placed Lee Parker fished the pole and pellet out at 14m. Loose feeding 4mm pellets over his float to keep the carp interested, he landed 27 fish to 7lb.
