The first half started with the Hornets settling the quickest and they pushed the Bees back into their own half.

The Bees kept clear cut chances to a minimum with some great defending before Charlotte Welsby deflected the ball home from a well worked penalty corner. This spurred the Hornets on and they continued to attack but to no avail.

After the break the Bees started to grow in confidence on the attack and the game began to flow from end to end.

As the Hornets attacked, Kate Vincent threw herself in front of a number of shots, Ellesha Garner tackled with great precision and Maddie Lowe channelled play away from dangerous areas; whereas at the other end Rachael Warner and Terri Cartledge ensured the Bees attacks were thwarted.

With Jennie Bowmer distributing the ball well from midfield, the Hornets saw two good chances to extend their lead go begging before a brilliant run down the wing from Abi Grocutt who crossed for Jamie Garner to score.

With honours even the last few minutes of the game presented both teams with one final chance to take all three points, but both were placed agonisingly wide.

New captain Jennie Bowmer once again took both oppositions man of the match and her own teams.
