Club chair Hannah Shooter said: “Emily is a very talented athlete.
“Alongside her own training regime, she was able to work with the club’s coaches throughout the winter to work on increasing her distances and speed; her hard work has really paid off. We’re all very proud of her achievements.”
As if Emily’s achievement isn’t enough for the Alcock family to celebrate, her dad Tony secured second overall place for the series having completed the Woodhall Spa race in the very impressive time of one hour, eight minutes and 29 seconds to take fourth in age group on the day. Tony’s bike leg was fourth fastest out of early 800 competitors, averaging 23.5mph over the 24km circuit.

Cormac Allison took fourth overall place in the series with his time of one hour, 30 minutes and four seconds. Cormac, a former beneficiary of the club’s junior-to-adult race transition programme, has gone on to regularly race for his university and has qualified to represent Ireland in his age group in this year’s Mulitsport World Championships, in Denmark, where he is due to take part in the sprint duathlon race in July.
