A new Travelodge tool lets travellers compare prices by date and location, revealing how a simple switch can cut hotel costs by over £60
If you're planning a festive getaway this Christmas, whether it be for a much-needed recharge, or to visit family far away, there's a new way to secure a very cheap hotel room using a simple online tool.
Travelodge, the value hotel specialists, has added a "Best Price Finder" system to its website, which sets out to simplify the task of finding a cheap room.
Rather than homing in on a specific location or date, you can look at a huge chart of prices, and use the online tool to find the cheapest hotel in your preferred area, and the cheapest night to stay.
It could save a small fortune by helping you spot seasonal variations and quickly identify bargain breaks.
For example, a night in a Travelodge in central Manchester could cost you £96 if you choose a central hotel on a mid-week day, but give it a few days, and the price drops to £30. It's easy to spot these fluctuations.
And if you needed to stay on that more pricey day, there are hotels within a few miles, still in the centre of the city, that offer rooms for £33.
This means, in this example, that choosing a different hotel less than a mile away can save over £60, even though they're both booked on the same day.
