Five of the best comedy tours planned for 2021

1 ROMESH RANGANATHAN - THE CYNIC’S MIXTAPE

January 8 to April 8

One of the UK’s most popular comics, Romesh’s cynicism has become his trademark. Fresh from The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, A League of Their Own and Judge Romesh, he’s putting show business aside to return to his stand-up roots. In his early 30s, Romesh ditched his career as a maths teacher to begin life on the road as a comedian. After having established himself on the stand-up circuit, TV opportunities began to roll in. Romesh appeared on the BBC series Asian Provocateur, which was nominated for a Bafta. Other shows include Just Another Immigrant, Rob & Romesh Meet and The Reluctant Landlord. In his new show, he’ll reveal what he has learned since his last tour, including why trying to save the environment is a scam, why none of us are truly free and his suspicion that his wife is using gluten intolerance to avoid sleeping with him.

2 ED BYRNE - IF I’M HONEST...

Touring January 11 to July 8

Ed Byrne presents his brand new masterclass in observational comedy If I’m Honest ..., hot on the heels of his 2018–2019 touring hit Spoiler Alert. Join Ed as he takes a long hard look at himself and tries to decide if he has any traits that are worth passing on to his children. A TV household name, in the past year Ed has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, The Pilgrimage, Top Gear and QI.

They say all political careers end in tears. In Brandreth’s case it’s tears of laughter as the actor, author, ex-MP, One Show reporter and QI, Have I Got News For You and Countdown star is heading back out on tour with his new show, Break a Leg!, celebrating all things theatrical. Without hesitation or repetition (and just a touch of deviation), Just a Minute regular Gyles delivers a dazzling hour of wit, wisdom, high drama, low comedy and hilarious name-dropping.

4 EMILY ATAK

Touring September 29 to October 31

She’s said goodbye to her carefree twenties. She’s now wondering what life is like as a mature, responsible grown up - and if she finds one, she’ll ask! Until then Emily will be bringing her trademark humour, honesty and playfulness to explore everything from work and dating to her latest obsession, leaving the WhatsApp Group. Expect anecdotes and impressions aplenty.

5 TIM VINE IS PLASTIC ELVIS

Touring January 31 to June 19

A unique tribute to a legend. Feel the electricity as Plastic Elvis hits the stage backed by his five-piece The High Noon Band. He’ll shake, he’ll smoulder, he’ll try to control his hair and, in the end, he’ll break your heart. Sing along with some of the King’s greatest songs on a breathless night of rock ’n’ roll. With support from special guests John Archer as Big Buddy Holly and songwriting legend David Martin, there’ll be moves that even Plastic Elvis himself isn’t expecting.
