Sutton: Sutton Rambling Club will offer an attractive 11.5 mile circular walk from Ashford in the Water on Sunday, November 22.An alternative shorter route is available from Monsal Head. There will be two refreshment breaks during the day.Features of the route will include the Monsal Trail, Deep Dale and the Magpie Mine site. The coach departure home is around 4.30pm.The coach picks up at the Staff of Life pub in Sutton at 9.15am and from the Bancroft Lane end of Sutton Road (outside Asda) in Mansfield at 9.30am. Nottingham: Saturday, November 21, is the date for a performance at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall by Jools Hooland.Pianist, bandleader, singer, composer, television presenter and multi platinum recording artist, Jools is in the middle of a UK and Ireland tour, including two annual dates at London’s famous Royal Albert Hall. A series of intimate shows in iconic venues accompanied by special guests, these gigs are not to be missed. Mansfield: The latest family-friendly exhibition at Mansfield Museum comes to an end this weekend.The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) touring exhibition Pop it in the Post: Your World at the end of the Street will be hosted by Mansfield Museum until Saturday, November 21. It explores the new and sometimes quirky ideas that made the mail accessible to all. Children and adults can discover the story of the letter writing revolution, enabled by the introduction of the world’s first stamp, the Penny Black, in 1840, and the UK’s first pillar boxes in 1852, learning about the individuals who made this possible.

Nottingham: Nottingham Symphony Orchestra will be performing a winter-themed concert at the city’s Albert Hall on Saturday, November 21.The concert, also featuring members of the Sandra Taylor School of Dance, includes performances of extracts from The Nutcracker, plus Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel Overture, Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Prokofiev’s Troika, plus Winter from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, with conductor Derek Williams as the violin soloist.The concert starts at 7.30pm. Chatsworth: The season of goodwill is already in full swing at Chatsworth, with the estate’s Christmas market up and running until Sunday, November 29.You can attend it from 10am to 5.30pm on weekdays, and 6pm on weekends. The event is packed with more than 100 stalls selling gifts and decorations, seasonal produce and clothing—something for all the family. Away from the shopping, soak up the good cheer with mulled cider, gourmet street food and musical entertainment. Nottinghamshire: Nottinghamshire County Council has big plans this winter, with seasonal activities taking place at most of its civic centres, libraries and parks. This Saturday, add a rustic touch to your home or garden decorations by weaving a willow angel in a one-off workshop at Sherwood Forest Country Park, 10.30am to 12.30pm. Nottingham: Prepare for the arrival of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a hyperspace journey through composer John Williams’s iconic orchestral scores for episodes I-VI of the saga. Michael Seal conducts the world renowned City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall on Monday, starting 7.30pm. From the heroic opening titles to the clashing lightsabers of Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, experience the thrill of the music that defined Star Wars’ greatest scenes. Phantom Menace voice actor Marc Silk will narrate the story as costumed characters will invade the stage. Cheer on pod racers at the flag parade, fly through the asteroid field in the Millennium Falcon, shed a tear for Anakin and Padmé or chill out with a cosmic cocktail to the sound of the cantina band. Nottingham: Having landed their sixth consecutive number one album with the powerful The Day Is My Enemy, and straight off the back of two sold out shows at Alexandra Palace, The Prodigy are closing the year in style.
