YOUR VIEW: only a matter of time before a fatality on crossing

editorial image

Referring to the recent accident on the pedestrian crossing in Mansfield Woodhouse.

This was an accident waiting to happen. The black and white markings of the zebra crossing are hardly visible. The white lines down the centre of the road on Rose Lane, and the give way lines at the end of the same road, are now almost non-existent.

The traffic in this area has doubled in recent years due to new housing development and no new infrastructure. Also traffic has increased due to more cars coming off the A60 down the Fairways to the centre of the village as a short cut to Debdale Lane.

Sadly it’s only a matter of time before more accidents and probably a fatality.

Notts County Council treating Mansfield Woodhouse as poor relations again.
