In answer to Gordon Barkes’ letter (Read here), I feel all our wildlife should be protected. Why is the answer to kill everything? They were brought over to this country by us. Putting them on the pill seems a more humane way of controlling them. He also states the Government is reluctant to help with the pill situation. This is no surprise. Gordon also states that in Ireland since the polecat has been protected the greys have decreased. Well excuse me if I’m wrong, but pole cats also kill young birds etc, so you are killing the greys and allowing another creature that does damage to survive. And what about magpies? They do damage to our wildlife?
