LETTER: Remembrance day poem

editorial image

‘Remember Me’ and honour war heroes

Screams in the dark
Knee high in mud,
I’m no killer
But if I had to, I would.
Why am I here
Fighting this war?
I don’t know,
If I can take any more.
Haunting images in my mind
War is war, it’s unkind.
I want to live my life
Get married, have a wife,
Will I live, will I die

I’m so scared, I won’t lie.
But if my future is not to be
Please my friends,
Remember me.
