Young people wanted for Garibaldi big switch on

The organisers of the first ever Christmas lights display at Garibaldi shops are looking to brighten up the Christmas of sick or disabled children by inviting them to switch them on at a special ceremony.

UKIP councillor for Newlands ward, Sid Walker said: “Until now there has never been a Christmas lights display at Garibaldi shops so I have been looking around for sponsors and hope to make this an annual event and build on it each year.”

He added: “With the help of the Independent and UKIP Forum and George Thompson of United Carpets I have raised enough money for this year’s lights.

“George Thompson is a local lad brought up on Garibaldi and has always helped causes in the village. I want to thank him and everybody involved in making this happen.

“If there are any ill or injured young children who we may help feel a little better by switching the lights on, please can they contact me on 01623 451185. If there are more than one they can do it together.”

The switch-on event will be on December 1 at 5pm.
