Chelsea suffered whiplash and smashed her head on the windscreen of their Citroën C2 car in the smash on Thursday, August 4, while Sharon suffered severe bruising.

Mum and daughter were initially treated at Dundee’s Royal Victoria Hospital before Chelsea was discharged and Kendal transferred to King’s Mill.

Chelsea said: “Kendal is a talented ice skater – she only started nine months ago and has already won her first competition. We were taking her up to Dundee to an under-nines competition when the crash happened

“We were driving along with another car in front of us when a car came out of nowhere and we ended up all over the road. The car was a complete wreck.

“My mum took the main force and had to be cut out. I was horrified to see Kendal had blood all over her face.

“I didn’t realise at the time she also had a broken femur.

“It was very traumatic – Kendal was frightened her grandma was going to die.”

Mum and daughter were reunited in Sutton after an ambulance crew transported Kendal to King’s Mill orthopaedic unit, where she is continuing her treatment.

The family said they had initially been told health chiefs had refused to pay for her transport back.

However, after Christopher Muldoon, Chelsea’s father, contacted the Chad and King’s Mill’s patient experience team, the hospital organised the ambulance to bring Kendal closer to home.
