A yellow decorative Tour of Britain bicycle has been stolen from a traffic island in Sutton.

Reclaimed bikes have been sprayed yellow and will be displayed on roundabouts, flower beds and parks by Ashfield District Council to celebrate the Tour riding through Ashfield on September 6.

The bicycle, which was taken from Spring Bank island on Kirkby Road in Sutton, is believed to have been stolen late on Friday evening or early hours of Saturday morning.

Council staff noticed it was missing while driving through the area early on Satuday August 19.

A council spokeswoman said: "It was reported stolen after council members noticed it was no longer there. We think it might have been taken by a reveller. We will be replacing it but if anybody spots it, it would be lovely if it did make its way back."
