Worksop man punched cop in town centre brawl
Officers became involved in the clash between two groups of men, numbering between ten and 15, at 11pm, on March 23.
Joe Somerset struck the officer when his arm was grabbed, splitting his lip. He apologised as he was being led to the police vehicle.

Hide AdOfficers drew tasers and warned the men they would use then if they didn’t calm down, said prosecutor Kate Hartley.
“He didn’t know he was a police officer,” she said. “But he did admit he wanted to punch someone.”
Sarah Neale, mitigating, said: “He would like to apologise to the officer. He explains he doesn’t usually get into these situations. He bitterly regrets his actions.”
She said the machine operator had been drinking and was also concerned about his ill brother at the time.

Hide AdSomerset, 22, of Harrington Street, admitted assaulting a police officer when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Wednesday.
District judge Jonathan Taaffe warned him he would go to prison if there was any repetition of the offence.
He fined Somerset £250, and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £30 government surcharge, as well as £100 compensation to the injured officer.
