Work starts on Holgate’s new science block

Builders have moved in to start work on the new science block at Holgate Academy.

On Tuesday 22nd April ground work started on the construction of three science labs together with a central preparation room at the Hillcrest site.

“This is an exciting time for Holgate and what we hope will be just the start of enhancements to the Academy’s facilities to bring them into the 21st century,” said headteacher, Caroline Saxelby.

As part of this project, two rooms in the Academy will be converted into ICT rooms for music and photography along with other enhancements.

Work is due to start on these rooms during the May half term holiday when some of the school’s old mobile classrooms will be removed from the site.

Mrs Saxelby added: “The removal of these old rundown buildings should enhance the look and feel of The Holgate Academy.”

You can keep up-to-date with these changes on the Academy website, twitter and facebook pages.
