Work to begin on Pleasley Hill housing project

Mansfield District Council has signed a Development Contract Agreement with Westbury Partnerships (a division of Persimmon Homes) for the sale of the land on Chesterfield Road North.

The multi-million pound redevelopment will create a new gateway into the District, transform the landscape and breathe new life into the area, where 160 former colliery worker homes that were deemed sub-standard, have been demolished.

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has invested nearly £1m to support the Council in demolishing these properties and clearing the land to accelerate development and avoid any delays or multiple phases to the scheme.

Westbury Partnerships is finalising the planning application for 151 new homes for sale and for rent along with two small business units. The Council has been informed that it will be submitted very shortly.

One hundred and twenty of the properties will be for open market sale and 31 will be available through low-cost home ownership schemes or social rented housing via a Registered Social Landlord.

Landscaping work will take place to make the land flatter so it is easier to build on and the new homes will be designed and built to the latest environmental and quality standards.

Major environmental improvements including the planting of trees and shrubs around and within the development will improve living conditions for residents and create a more welcoming environment for visitors.

A sales office and show home are expected to be built by the end of May 2015 with the first properties completed by the end of July 2015.

“The Pleasley Hill regeneration scheme will bring much-needed modern family homes to the area and will transform this gateway into Mansfield District so it is a place we can all be proud of.”
