Woman released in Kirkby stabbing inquiry

A woman arrested in connection with a stabbing in Kirkby has been 'released under investigation'.

The 35-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault after a 50-year-old man suffered stab wounds on Spruce Grove.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokeswoman said: “The 35-year-old has been released under investigation. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Police were called to the scene on Thursday, July 26, following a report of an altercation involving a knife.

A fight is believed to have occured at about 10.30pm and members of the public attempted to intervene. A woman was threatened with a knife and a 50-year-old man suffered stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Inspector Glenn Longden, Ashfield district commander, said at the time: “Detectives are working to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“It is isolated and there is no wider threat to the public, but if you have any issues or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to officers on patrol in the area.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I would urge any other witnesses to come forward, or anyone else with information that could help with the investigation.”
