A woman had to escape through a window after a blaze broke out at her Mansfield home.

The occupant fled the blaze which broke out at the property on Valley View shortly before 2.30pm today, Sunday 21st June.

The fire had broken out on the ground floor of the two-storey building.

Crews from Mansfield, Blidworth and Ashfield were called to the scene where they used four breathing apparatus and two hose-reel jets to extinguish the flames.

They then used a ventilation fan to clear the smoke.

The woman was given first aid at the scene before she was taken to hospital by ambulance.
