Woman dies after being hit by train at Kirkby

A woman who was hit by a train in Kirkby last night has died.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Grives Lane Level Crossing near Grives Farm in Kirkby in Ashfield at 7.12pm on Sunday, October 30 after reports that a person had been struck by a train.

A spokesman for BTP said: “Officers attended however the person, who has been identified as a 30-year-old woman from the local area, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed.”

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The woman has not been named.

The incident caused the Robin Hood Lane, between Nottingham and Mansfield, to close as emergency services attended the scene.

Normal service has resumed this morning.
