Firefighters were forced to cut a woman free from this car after it collided with a fallen tree in Blidworth.

The crews received the call yesterday morning, Friday 3rd January, before 7am, when the woman drove her vehicle into the huge tree that covered much of the road on Haywood Oaks Lane.

The tree had been brought in the night by the high winds sweeping the region.

Haywood Oaks Lane resident Cynthia Carr, who sent Chad the photograph, said the accident happened outside her front door.

“We were awoken by the flashing blue lights,” she explained.

“Somebody apparently flashed their lights at her to warn her but it looks like she just went straight into it.

“The car was in several pieces by the time the fire service had cut her out, but they were very good.”

It is not thought that woman was hurt in the accident, but the road was closed until after 10am as the road was cleared.
