WIN your share of £4,000 cash

Every quarter for the next year, the Idlewells will donate a generous £1,000 to a cause nominated by Chad readers as part of the new Idlewells Community Fund scheme.

Recipients could be a locally-based charity, schools that need money for a particular project or any organisation that helps, supports or is run for the benefit of local people.

Each quarter, representatives from the Idlewells and Chad will select the winning nomination and present them with a much-needed £1,000 donation.

A spokesman for Idlewells said it has long been as a huge supporter of local groups and charities and this regular event will allow it to take this even further and really make a difference to local projects.

It gives the centre the opportunity to reward and give financial assistance to the many charities and non-profit organisations in the local area which underpin social cohesion.

“The Community Trust initiative reinforces the importance that Idlewells Shopping Centre’s management places on helping to engender a sense of community,” said Chloe O’Donnell, assistant centre manager.

“Put simply, money makes the activities of many selfless individuals within our community so much easier to accomplish.

“This is our way of recognising their efforts and making their lives somewhat easier, so please help by getting involved through the Chad and nominating organisations in the local area.”

Each quarter, the Chad and Idlewells Shopping Centre will put out a call for local groups and families to apply for Community Trust funding, which can be used to assist with specific projects or to support local organisations.

The initiative will last for a year, meaning a total of £4,000 is available to organisations including schools, sports clubs, charities, community centres, churches/religious groups and the emergency services.

The first award will be presented on Saturday 26th July at Idlewells Shopping Centre and the nomination period will run from now until Wednesday 16th July.

To nominate a good cause for the money, all you need to do is email [email protected], or apply via the Idlewells’ website at www.idlewells.co.uk - or its Facebook page.

Make you sure explain what the organisation does and, in 100 words or fewer, detail how the funds would help them.

Chad editor Phil Bramley urged the residents of Ashfield to put forward nominations and help local groups get a much-needed funding boost.

“There are so many fantastic organisations out there which are run by hard-working people and which benefit the community in an infinite number of ways,” he said.

“This is the chance to give them a helping hand to continue their invaluable contributions or to help them achieve something that they would struggle to without a bit of extra cash.

“We are looking forward to seeing floods of nominations coming in - and having to make a very difficult decision,” he added.
