A Mansfield man has pleaded guilty to acting drunk and disorderly after a wedding reception ‘got out of hand’.
Ashley James Sparkes, (30) of Union Street, appeared at Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to the charge. Prosecuting Robert Carr said Sparkes had attended the reception at William IV pub on Stockwell Gate but a fight broke out between guests and staff, which was instigated by the groom.
Police were called and he was initially calm but when he was later told to go home and sober up he continually swore at officers. Speaking in court, Sparkes said: “There was no actual fighting, it was just a heated discussion that got out of hand.” He was fined £165 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
