WEATHER: Cloud and heavy showers over East Midlands

The Met Office has maintained a weather alert for heavy rain and potential flooding today, with heavy showers developing through the day.

Expect a cloudy start with fog possible at higher levels and misty near the coast. Periods of rain will give way to heavy, slow moving and perhaps thundery showers, with the odd bright spell.

Into tonight, heavy, thundery showers will continue through the evening, before easing from most places overnight, with more clear spells developing. Winds remaining light.
