We want you...put your community group in the Chad spotlight...

There are countless groups out there in the Chad district which are the heartbeat of their communities '” and we want to highlight just what they do.

That’s why we are launching our new feature entitled Grass Roots Spotlight, which is aimed at publicising the great job done by our community organisations.

So, the question is, are you involved in a community group, club, or organisation in Mansfield and Ashfield?

Do you want to attract new members or look for backing for a fundraising initiative or campaign? Or do you just fancy sharing what it is your group gets up to?

If so, the Chad’s new feature, Grass Roots Spotlight, is the way forward.

We want to spread the word about all of the good that goes in our community and a lot of that good starts with the hundreds of local groups and organisations that exist in and around our area.

These groups generate a massive amount of community spirit and we should all be proud of the job they do, whether it be fundraising, organising local events, supporting peoples’ hobbies and interests or providing friendship.

Our Grass Roots pages already feature information and reports from these local organisations but we want to give our readers more of an insight into what it is these clubs and groups do and in tun allow them to boost their profile and that of any events or fundraising they are planning.

Many of them have also been running for years, so we want to explore their backgrounds and greatest achievements too.

Martin Hutton, head of community content for the Chad, said: “So much in day-to-day life we are wrapped up in our own little bubble. We are also quick to become isolated or complain about our lot.

“But there are countless groups out there which do exactly the opposite....and it isn’t all about financial gain.

“For them it is about providing a community focus and being an integral part of the foundations of their community.

“They provide funds, friendship and support and so often this goes unnoticed. The aim of this new feature is to end that and also preserve these organisations for the future.”

Our spotlight will give groups the chance, through a series of regular questions, to spread the word about their history, their members, their regular meetings and any events or fundraising plans they have in place.

If you are part of a club that would be interested in taking part in the feature, email [email protected] or [email protected].

We will then get in touch and send you a series of questions. We would also need a photo of the group.

Don’t hesitate, get in touch today.
