Watch: What Tour of Britain cyclists will see when they pass through Mansfield

Cyclists will pass by well-known Mansfield landmarks such as the Palace Theatre, Mansfield Museum, the Civic Centre and under Millennium Bridge as part of their route through the town for the Tour of Britain.

Mansfield will host the start of the Nottinghamshire stage of the Tour of Britain cycle race on September 6.

Around 120 of the world’s top cyclists racing a 175-kilometre stage from Mansfield to Newark.

A video filmed by Mansfield District Council shows the route riders will take through the area.

Starting in the town, the route will weave 6km around the town centre before heading towards Sutton in Ashfield.

The cyclists will will head up Leeming Street, north along Chesterfield Road, past Tesco, before turning left at the Civic Centre on to Rosemary Street. They will then continue past the fire station and the old bus station before passing Stags’ football ground, Titchfield Park and Mansfield Leisure Park on Nottingham Road.

They will turn right at High Oakham Primary School and continue up Atkin Lane and Sheepbridge Lane before turning left on to the A38 near the Sir John Cockle pub. They will join the Ashfield section of the race near King’s Mill Hospital.

The route will also take in Eastwood, Hucknall, Gedling and the grounds of Newstead Abbey and the centre of Southwell.
