The popular officer worked as part of the Nottinghamshire Constabulary Underwater Search Unit (Northern Section) based at Mansfield.

Bert, who now lives in Victoria with wife Norma, also served locally at Beeston, Warsop, Worksop, and in the traffic and personnel departments, before finishing at Sutton in 1986.

Among the 60 friends in attendance were Richard Dillon, Vic Pattinson, Geoff Greaves, Peter Mee and Steve Garner.

The event was organised with the assistance of Pat Webb.
