The 40th Junior Showtime competition was won by vocalist James Morgan at a packed Mansfield Palace Theatre.

James(18), of Directions Theatre Arts in Chesterfield, wowed the judges with a stunning rendition of ‘Why God, Why’ from Miss Saigon.

He came out on top of a field of 29 acts, featuring vocalists, dancers and variety performers.

In second place was dancer Shelby White (17), of DeBurnays, and Holly Brown (16) and 17-year-old Thomas Cooper, of Expressions, came third for their dance performance.

This year’s winner of the Youngsters’ Night - which takes place during the heat stages at Mansfield’s Library Theatre - was won by Holly Jewitt Maurice (11), Jessica Driver (11), Leila Hall (11) and Evie Midgley (9), from Stagecoach, Beeston.

The contest is organised by Mansfield Rotary Club and was hosted by Rotn Paul Bacon and BBC Radio Nottingham and Notts TV presenter, Frances Finn . This year’s final featured a video montage of past winners and a screen appearance by Paul’s son and TV and radio presenter, Richard Bacon.
