Musicians from the Army and Vision West Notts college joined forces in a unique collaboration.
Musicians from the band of the Parachute Regiment, based in Colchester, joined music performance and music technology students at Vision West Notts in composing and recording a selection of contemporary pieces in the college’s state-of-the-art recording studios.
Accompanied by Warrant Officer Colin Blowers, the regiment will introduce students to the contemporary musical styles practiced by the Army.
Today’s modern Army musicians compose pieces not only for marching and symphonic concert bands, but also for other musical ensemble such as strings and rock bands.
Students also learned about the range of musical qualifications and careers available through the Corps of Army Music, which is the largest employer of musicians in the UK.
