The festival is held annually and showcases the dance talent at the town’s schools and in the local community.

It isn’t a competition but about sharing and celebrating the art of dance.

In the afternoon the students watched each other perform their routines before the whole show was performed to parents and friends in the evening to raise money for a defibrillator for the academy.

As well as Sutton Community Academy, pupils from the primary schools in the area took part, including Priestsic Primary, St Mary’s Primary, Leamington Junior Academy, Skegby Junior Academy and Dalestorth Primary.

Two students from Ashfield School, who dance at Dancemania, were asked to do a number in the show and British dance champions, Sutton Community Academy student Elliot Bland Harwood and his partner Mia Linnik-Holden, also joined in, putting on an expert performance.

Said Clare Little, the dance teacher who organised the festival: “The show was a huge success performed to a packed out theatre of very proud parents and friends.

“It was a fantastic evening celebrating the talent of over 160 young people from in and around Sutton. I felt very proud to be a part of such a special evening.”
