VIDEO: Solemn tribute to Notts soldier Hazel

Family and friends paid a touching tribute to their lost soldier Hazel Fox at a solemn funeral service today.

The Private in the British Army was honoured by a full military funeral today, carried into the Church of St Mary Magdelene in Sutton-in-Ashfield by uniformed pallbearers and honoured with a flyby from an RAF Typhoon fighter jet.

The community was rocked by the tragic passing of Private Hazel, who was killed in a freak car crash on Friday, February 26.

Soldiers and two fighter jets paid tributes to a fallen sister-in-arms today, following the death of young solder, Private Hazel Fox from Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The 20 year old was known as extremely popular, ‘bubbly’, dedicated to her training in the logistics corp at Deepcut, and is fondly remembered by the numerous friend she made as a player for Teversal FC Ladies.

Friend and fellow soldier in the British Army, Private Thomas Green, previously said in tribute to her: “(Hazel was) such a lovely girl. She was very eager to get her training finished, she was a very good soldier.

“She was one of the lads, She never had a bad word to say, she was very bubbly. And she had a lot of respect for people.

“She had so much hopes for her future. She loved her football.”

Known to friends as ‘Foxy’, Hazel previously studied at West Notts College and played in defence for Teversal.

The club said: “We at Teversal Football Club were devastated to hear of the loss of our good friend Hazel Fox.

“Hazel will be missed by all involved with the Ladies team and the club in general. Her light has been extinguished far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with her partner, Jenny and Hazel’s family at this difficult time.”
