Plans are also underway to recruit a market retail manager to establish a more commercial and enterprising approach to the District’s markets and town centres

At a cabinet meeting on October 13 councillors agreed a post of retail specialist who would be able to contribute positively to future plans and the overall review of the service, making sure it delivers good value for money and a best in class offer for traders and shoppers.

The Markets Retail Manager post would focus on creating and developing commercial opportunities for both indoor and outdoor markets to maximise income and improve the district’s retail offer. This post would help plans to reinvigorate and refresh Ashfield’s town centre experience, providing vibrant town centres that offer a real variety of goods and services.
