This is the scene of freak car crash in Mansfield today which left one man injured and a vehicle badly damaged.

Only involving one car, a driver is believed to have inadvertently swung off the road, and may have suffered a seizure.

Police said the incident took place at 8.30am and officers were still on site at the cordoned-off section of Sheepbridge Lane, by the crossing with Hamilton Way to clear the site.

An eyewitness told the Chad that a male driver, age unknown, was behind the wheel of the KIA hatchback and ‘appeared to suffer a seizure’.

Nottinghamshire police said: “The driver was taken to hospital by road ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.”

An air ambulance was also called to the scene but is not believed to have been used in the incident.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 8.28am this morning reporting a car that had collided with a wall on the junction of Sheepbridge Lane, Mansfield with one male patient inside.

“Our Fast Response Paramedic was first on scene followed minutes later by an ambulance crew. The man was taken to Queens Medical Centre for further treatment.”
