Police hunting a man who tried to rob a Mansfield Woodhouse off-licence by pointing a gun at the shopowner’s head have released CCTV footage of the incident.

The man threatened staff and demanded cash but fled the scene empty handed. No one was injured.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, and wore grey jogging bottoms, a grey or black hooded jumper and a padded sleeveless jacket. He also wore a scarf over his face.

DC Joanne Leason said: “Although this man’s face is covered, someone might recognise what he’s wearing, his mannerisms or even how he walks.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for the person who was threatened so if anyone has any information please let us know.”

Anyone who witnessed the crime or who saw a man matching this description should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
