Video: Mansfield man’s high hopes for card game

Ex-West Notts College lecturer John English is hoping a new game will bring families together in 2014.

The Mansfield father-of-three has designed a card game named Finale developed from the well-known ‘sevens’ which he hopes will tempt children and young people away from their games consoles and to interact with their families.

Said John: “I get so fed up with my daughter spending all her time on her mobile phone - It will bring families together at Christmas

“And the rules are set out to make it very easy to get playing straight away.”

Finale players must get rid of all their cards, which are played in a sequence between 1-20.

There are three different versions, a group adult game, a one-on-one game and a child-friendly, family round.

“It is totally child-friendly,” said John.

“And the pack comes with card holders which make it much easier for kids to play.

“And for keen card players there is a lot of strategy involved, such as playing different cards to block your opponent.”

The idea for Finale came to John during an inspiring game of sevens on the ferry trip from the North to the South Island in New Zealand.

He immediately got to work designing and bringing his vision into production. But delays have meant it will not be available on Amazon until the new year.

You can order Finale online by visiting www.finalecards.com.

It is also on sale at Brambles Florist, Nottingham Road.
