Dismal weather and a change to the schedule at Meadowhall’s Christmas lights switch on concert failed to dampen the spirits of thousands of revellers that turned out for the sparkling event.

Adverse weather conditions of strong winds meant that the line-up was brought forward by an hour to allow crowds to enjoy all the festive fun in safety.

The chart-toppers played their hits to 15,000 music fans at the sell-out event, who partied on despite the weather, singing, dancing and cheering in the rain.

Katie Matthews, aged 15, from Rotherham, was at the event with her friend Kelly Barker, also 15. She said: “I really wanted to come to see Professor Green, I love him.
