These photographs taken from the air show the derelict Coalite plant in Shuttlewood.

The sprawling, former factory looks eerie in the drone images, taken by Lee Retallic, of LeesHoverVision.

Lee, formerly of Bolsover but now lives in Shirebrook, is a qualified drone pilot and his father used to work at the plant, off Buttermilk Lane.

The site is to be transformed after planning permission was granted for more than 650 new homes. New jobs will also be as part of the masterplan.

Derbyshire County Council has approved £2m to help redevelop the 140 acre former coking works and the council has applied for a further £5.8m for the project from D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership

The site has remained derelict since Coalite closed down more than 12 years ago.
