Victoria bids to be crowned Miss Nottingham

Nuthall law student Victoria Marriott will be battling it out for the title of Miss Nottingham 2016 tonight.

The 20-year-old will go head-to-head with 22 other candidates for the crown. Contestants take part in three rounds - Miss Eco, Miss Sportswear and Miss Eveningwear - with marks being awarded for each stage.

Victoria is particularly looking forward to the Miss Eco Round, where each candidate must showcase an outfit that they have made themselves, or purchased from a charity shop.

And her love of Nottingham Forest Football Club has paid off for the competition after she created an outfit using plastic bags from the club shop and ticket stubs from the ticket office.

Speaking of the competition, Victoria said: “I really want to give something back to the community and by being crowned Miss Nottingham, it would enable me to work on ways to do just that.

“I see winning as a chance to inspire young women to look towards a real-life model, as opposed to a photo-shopped celebrity in a trashy magazine.”

Part of the competition is a popularity round, which centres around the amount of online and text votes each candidate receives.
