Vacant Mansfield car park to be turned into housing

A vacant plot of land in Mansfield last used as a car park is to be see 14 houses built.

The land off Recreation Street was once the car park for the now-demolished Metal Box factory.

The land is not used and overgrown.

The applicant, Richard Walker, proposed to build 10 three-bedroom homes and another four two-bedroom homes.

With only 14 dwellings planned, it does not cross Mansfield District Council’s threshold to include any affordable’ housing.

Each home will have two parking spaces, and access to the site will be will be from Recreation Street.

The plans were given the green light at the council’s recent planning meeting, with eight of the nine members voting in favour, with one abstention.
