For the outstanding bravery award, we are looking for stories of people who have demonstrated bravery either in their own battles or selflessly helping others.

The award last year went to Jane Thacker who, despite suffering a serious illness which meant she lost her hair and had to receive chemotherapy, continued her hospice support work and fundraising with jam making and flower displays as well as tending hospice gardens.

She was justly described as “a heroine” by those that nominated her.

For thenNeighbourhood superstar award, someone who goes the extra mile in helping in their area will be in the spotlight.

Last year’s music and performing arts award was presented to trombone player Joseph Heartfield who has been playing since the age of just six and performed with Sherwood Forest Brass and now Blidworth Welfare Band.

He is also one of the youngest members of the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain and plays for Yorkshire Youth Brass. even though officially, he was too young to join.

Special recognition went to Blidworth Welfare Band for its dedication and success at a number of competitions, including securing promotion to the championship for the first time in 30 years.
