UPDATE: Woman who was hit by police car at Christmas still remains in hospital

The incident has also now been refferred back to Nottinghamshire Police by the Independent Police Complaints Comission, following an assessment by the police watchdog.

The female, in her 30s, was, hit by a marked police vehicle on Memorial Avenue in Worksop on Tuesday, December 29, at about 4.30pm.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “The woman who was injured in the collision is recovering in hospital.

“We can confirm that the IPCC has referred this incident back to Nottinghamshire Police to investigate.

“This is an on-going investigation and we can not comment further at this time.”

The woman was taken to hospital in Sheffield to receive treatment.

All major roads towards the town centre were cordoned off at the time. Bus services were also affected.

A spokesman for the IPCC said: “ We received a mandatory referral from Nottinghamshire Police in relation to a collision involving a police vehicle and a pedestrian, a woman, which happened in Memorial Avenue, Worksop, on Tuesday, 29 December. Following an assessment we determined that it should be investigated locally by the force’s Professional Standards Department.”
