Update: Teenager arrested after Sutton stabbing is released on bail

A 16-year-old boy arrested in relation to a stabbing incident in Sutton on Wednesday has been released on conditional bail.

Paramedics were called to Bishop Street just before 12.30am yesterday (Wednesday 11 July) and found a 38-year-old man with stab wounds.

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. They believe the victim was stabbed in Northwood Avenue before making his way to Bishop Street.

Detective Inspector Gayle Hart said: “We’re following up a number of lines of enquiry and appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to get in touch with us.

“There would have been people in the area who may have seen the assault or heard something. We’re urging them to come forward.”

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
