Update on bus disruptions and school closures in the Ashfield and Mansfield areas due to the snow.

People in the Mansfield and Ashfield area woke up to several inches of snow this morning.

Residents across the county are waking up to what could be an especially hazardous winter’s morning.

There are no reports of road closures, although the A38 is reported to be quite patchy and bus services could be delayed.

Stagecoach say due to weather conditions the following bus services are being disrupted:

Service 16 to Clipstone not serving King Johns/First Avenue due to adverse weather conditions.

Service 28 will not be serving Lindhurst Avenue Blidworth this morning.

Service 23 is operating but we re experiencing delays due to road conditions around Shirebrook with Summit Hill not being served.

Service 6 Ladybrook not serving Winthorpe street at present.

Service 27 operating Python Hill only Rufford Ave, Preston Rd, Westbrooke Drive unaccessible at present.

Nottingham County Council say they have been gritting overnight, with snow ploughs fitted and are gritting again this morning.

Schools who have announced they are closed today include:

Wainright Primary Academy, Mansfield.

Leamington Primary and Nursery Academy, Sutton.

A Met Office ‘be aware’ snow warning is in force in Nottinghamshire until noon today.

They predict the snow to ease gradually through the morning.

The county is also under a severe cold weather alert.

Daytime temperatures will struggle to exceed 1C in many towns and villages across the area today.

Emergency services are urging members of the public to take extra care and to look out for each other.
