Unemployment falls in town, figures show

The number of people unemployed in Chesterfield has dropped.

Statistics show there were 1,907 people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance in December – compared with 1,949 the previous month.

Peter Swallow, chairman of Destination Chesterfield, said: “These figures show that we are punching well above our weight for a small town, creating opportunity for investors which are directly resulting in jobs for residents.”
