Two people rescued from Sutton flat fire

TWO people had to be rescued from a flat fire in Sutton this afternoon (Saturday).

Firefighters from Mansfield and Sutton attended the scene on Caunts Crescent where two males, the occupier and a friend, were escorted to safety from the first-floor flat.

They were called at 1.06pm with reports that a fire had started in the lounge of the flat. They used a hose reel to extinguish the flames and a ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the two-storey building.

Clothes and carpet were damaged in the fire.

They were checked over by ambulance crews at the scene but did not got to hospital.

An investigation was launched by police at the scene.
