Two firms from the Mansfield area are among those through to the finals of the prestigious Midlands Family Business Awards.

Premier Care, who provide high-quality home care for the elderly and disabled, and A1 Flue Systems, who design, manufacture and install chimneys, flue and exhaust systems, both feature on the elite shortlist.

Now in their eighth year, the awards are backed by The Wilson Organisation, an insurance and finance company, whose managing director, Charlotte Perkins, said: “The awards are the region’s only independent initiative to recognise the work and achievements of family businesses.

“This year’s finalists demonstrate the exceptional pedigree of the family firms across the Midlands, and offer a vital contribution to the region’s economy.”

Premier Care, who have been established for more than 20 years, are one of six finalists in the best small family business category. Based on Concorde Way in Mansfield, the firm enables the elderly and disabled to live independently in their own homes, offering help and support such as washing and cleaning.

A1 Flue Systems, who have more than 40 years’ experience, are among the finalists in two categories, director of the year (in the shape of TJ Duncan-Moir) and manufacturing excellence. Based on the Boughton Industrial Estate at New Ollerton, they are one of the market leaders in their field. Recent projects include work on The Shard in London where their technical expertise was highly praised.
