Three well-known TV chefs are top of the menu when The Big Bake event returns to Newstead Abbey over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Now in its third year, the event combines demonstrations by the chefs with a competition for budding bakers to win terrific prizes.

The big names on show will include Sophie Faldo, the 2017 winner of ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ show, whose champagne cake was described as “a work of genius”, long-standing TV character Rustie Lee and Molly Robbins, award-winning star of Channel 4’s ‘Extreme Cake Makers’.

They will be joined by Paul Young, who is ranked among the world’s best chocolatiers thanks to his cutting-edge creativity.

Those wanting to take part in the competition are asked to take along a home-made decorative cake for the judges to inspect on Saturday, August 26.
