Triple tragedy fund reaches £7K

A fundraising effort to take a cancer stricken mum and her two young children on a holiday to scatter their dad’s ashes has raised more than £7,000,

Helen McCran wants to take her chidren Toby 8 and Gracie 2 on a trip to Florida to scatter the ashes of their dad Steven Overton, who died of cancer in February.

Helen, 33 of Mansfield Woodhouse has been diagnosed with cancer in the same year she lost her partner and father to the disease.

Family friend Tanya Hill is spearheading a fundraising campaign to help the family take their trip to the resort where they spent their favourite family holidays.

In just two weeks she has raised more than £7,000 on a justgiving page -One anonymous donor gave a single donation of £5,000.

Tanya said: “I would dearly love to raise as much as I can to help these poor children have a small amount of normality if only for a few days.

“The generosity of people who have donated so far has blown me away.”

Now she is looking for sponsors for her 10k run at Clumber Park on Saturday October 17.
