Tributes to former Mansfield Woodhouse club secretary

Mick Holmes has died aged 75.
Mick Holmes has died aged 75.

A service at St Edmund’s Church, preceded burial at Mansfield Woodhouse Cemetery of Mr Samuel Michael (Mick) Holmes, aged 75, of Collier Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse.

Born in Mansfield and a lifelong local resident, Mick was a miner and security officer, and club secretary at Mansfield Woodhouse Ex-Serviceman’s Club.

His interests included gardening, holidays abroad and visiting his caravan at Skegness with his wife, also looking after “Scaredy”, the cat

Mick, who passed away at Nottingham City Hospital, on October 2, 2017, leaves his wife Rita, daughters Lynn and Tracy, stepson Lee, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves brothers Bob and John and sisters Ann, Eileen and Beryl.

Floral tributes were from family and close friends. Donations received in lieu of flowers raised £400 for Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

The service was conducted by Mrs Kate Colclough and arrangements were by AW Lymn, Mansfield Woodhouse.
