TRIBUTES have been paid to a 20-year-old man from Ollerton who was tragically killed in a multi vehicle crash.

Ryan Pickard, of Grange Avenue, died when the Ford Escort he was travelling as a passenger in crashed with a Honda Civic and a motorbike in Rufford Lane, Wellow, at about 5.45pm on Tuesday 24th July.

Damien Gilliatt (32), of Warsop, who was driving the Ford Escort car, was also killed. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Pickard’s father John said his son was a keen skateboarder who has been campaigning for a skatepark to be built in Ollerton for a number of years.

John added how his son was a big music fan and had been to the Download festival, in Donnington, for the last three years. He also enjoyed playing on his X-box games console.

Mum Anne said: “He loved life and was very full of life. He didn’t fall out with anybody.

“I would like to thank all out family and close friends for their support which has been over whelming.”

Sister Jodie (28) said: “He loved going out and spending time with his friends.

“A lot of his friends have come to see us, we have only just realised how many friends he had. I think he’s had over 1,000 messages on his Facebook page

“My partner Matt lives on a farm and we used to have have bonfires there. Ryan and Matt used to make their own fireworks on bonfire night which was a bit stupid but they enjoyed it.”

Ryan went to All Saints Catholic School in Mansfield and was working for Sherwood Marquees at the time of his death.

His funeral will take place at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, New Ollerton, at 12pm on Wednesday 8th August followed by a wake at the Plough Inn, in Forest Road, New Ollerton at 2pm.
