Tributes paid to ‘absolute star of a bloke’ after festival death

Tributes have poured in for a former Mansfield man who died at a Derbyshire music festival at the weekend.

Ju Woodward was attending the Rock and Blues Old School Weekender Festival in Pentrich at the weekend when he collapsed.

Mr Woodward had very recently married and was attending the festival for his honeymoon.

He was taken to hospital on Saturday at 4.25pm but later died, a Derbyshire police spokesman said.

The circumstances surrounding Mr Woodward’s death have not been revealed, but police said it is not being treated as suspicious.

The motorbike lover married his wife Linzie (Princess) Woodward at a ceremony at Mansfield Register Office in June, and had moved to the Matlock.

He ran the 666 Body Piercing Studio, which had been based at Matlock Bath Tattoos.

Nobody from Mr Woodward’s family was available to speak to Chad.

But a statement issued by the tattoo parlour where he had worked read: “Everyone at Matlock Bath Tattoos would like to extend our sympathy to Linzie and all of the family of Ju.

“It’s been such a shock and we are all still trying to get some prospective of this loss. Ju met Linzie here and to see them so happy only a few weeks ago on their wedding day was a privilege.”

North Derbyshire coroners were due to begin an investigation into Mr Woodward’s death yesterday.

Two years ago around 300 people had to be evacuated from the festival when an overhead power line snapped and fell into a camping area.
